Prolapsus nuclei pulposi between the 4th lumbar and 5th vertebra: a case study |
A case-study of a prolapsus nuclei pulposi between the 4th lumbar and 5th vertebra in a 9-year-old female Dachshund has been presented. Diagnosis was based on neurological examination, plain radiography and computed tomography. It was the 4th recurrence of the back problems with a low neurological grade and the dog was treated surgically by means fenestration of the following spaces: T12-13-L1-2 and L4-5. Clinical signs of the intervertebral disc disease disappeared within a few days. Prolapsus nuclei pulposi in this localization is rare. Standard fenestration (T11-L4) which is used in the cases with upper motoneuron compression syndrome is not appropriate in such a case. |
