Chloroorganic insecticides in the fatty tissue and liver of free-living pheasants
The aim of the research was to determine the content of chloroorganic insecticides (DDT; DDE; DDD; γ-HCH) in the bodies of free-living pheasants from two remote regions of Poland. The research concerned specimens of the common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), including seven birds from the region of the Warta Mouth, in Lubuskie province, the district of Sulêcin, the municipality of Krzeszyce, where small 4-5 ha farms prevail. As regards the crop structure, the most popular are grain crops, primarily including rye, triticale, barley and oats. Additionally, 19 birds from Tarnów region were examined (Ma³opolskie province, the municipality of Tuchów, the village of D¹brówka Tuchowska) – a poorly forested region, of hilly scenery and small 3-4 ha farms, where crops of rye, triticale, oat, potatoes and mangold prevail. The content of chloroorganic insecticides was determined by gas chromatography with an electron capture detector (ECD). The analysed tissues included fatty and liver tissue. The analysis indicated significant differences as regards the concentration of insecticides in various tissues; however, no statistically significant differences were found between birds obtained from two remote regions of Poland.
