Effect of chosen feed additives on mineral metabolism in poultry |
The article discusses the results of studies on the effect of chosen feed additives on mineral utilisation in poultry. In modern meat- and lay-type poultry the disorders of mineral metabolism often lead to decreased eggshell quality and osteoporosis in laying hens as well as tibial dyschondroplasia in broiler chickens. These disturbances have negative effects not only on the economic profitability of production but also on the welfare of birds. The results of experiments indicate that the use of active forms of vitamin D3 (25-hydroxycholecalciferol), organic acids, pre- and probiotic fructans could positively affect mineral metabolism in poultry. |
