Twenty years of research activity in the field of the biology and pathology of reproduction at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn |
2008 is the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn, which is currently one of the best research units in the field of agriculture and veterinary sciences in Poland. Initially the Institute did not possess any facilities and its staff consisted of only a few members. Development of the Institute would not have been possible without the input of the entire staff. Currently the Institute is divided into two divisions: the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Pathophysiology (with 8 departments and one laboratory) and the Division of Food Sciences (with 9 departments). The basic studies of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Pathophysiology of Reproduction are focused on physiology, endocrinology, immunology and pathology of the female reproductive tract of domestic and wild animals as well as the regulation of male mammals and fish reproduction. The paper presents the genesis of the Institute, development of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Pathophysiology and the current state of organizational structure, staff members, and scientific achievements. |
