Detection and identification of pork DNA in feed: Development and validation of a method
The aim of this paper was to develop and validate a PCR method for identification of pork protein DNA in feed. Based on the results obtained, validation parameters were determined. The following values were obtained: 97.5%, accuracy, 96.7% sensitivity, and 100% specificity. The detection limit of the method was determined at a level of 0.1%. The results confirm the usefulness of the method for routine control because it is capable of detecting the presence of pig material at the same level as the reference microscopic method. For this reason, it can be a useful tool in routine control for the presence of pork proteins in feed.
