The authors experience with polyester band usage in cranial cruciate ligament rupture treatment in dogs
Ninety-three dogs were included in the study. In all dogs cranial cruciate ligament rupture was treated with a modified over the top technique using a polyester band as a ligament substitute. In 79 cases unilateral surgery and in 14 cases bilateral surgery was performed. In 59 dogs meniscectomy was carried out simultaneously. In 8 dogs soft tissue irritation, swelling and sinus tract formation was observed. Despite the above-mentioned problems, a return to the normal limb functioning was observed in all the treated dogs.
Keywords: polyester, dog, cranial cruciate ligament rupture.
